First piece was on the drivers side to make sure the left most piece goes behind the large bolt on the strut tower (3 bolts should be showing); if you do that you can connect it to the top hole with a rivet. Once that fit the drivers side came together great. The passenger side was a bit more difficult; once again push the RIGHT (because its passenger) most piece behind the large bolt on the strut tower (3 bolts should be showing). The left most piece I had to trim with metal cutters; however, I could not get it to line up with the top or one of the holes on the bottom. I feels secure enough so I left it. They are sending me some more spare parts to get the pieces linked up. I am not sure if this being a difficult installation was difference between the SR and TRD models. Either way I got it to work and the customer service was excellent. Customer service is refunding me even though I insisted that they don't since its installed and working except for 2 rivets. For this reason they deserve 5 stars alone.
Everything was as advertised. My only issue was that they are a little stiff. Some of the automotive fasteners are a little stressed (plastic). I think over time as the splash guards get their “muscle” memory from being displaced and they will be fine. Until then, I’m checking them on occasion to make sure they have not come loose. Fit is nice and I can recommend these without hesitation. Much, much better than what little coverage Toyota OEM does for me.
I just installed these front splash guards/fender liners on my 2025 Toyota Tacoma this afternoon. The instructions were super clear and included pictures of every step of the installation (except for removing the factory pieces on the passenger side, but that was exactly the same as the driver's side which there were pictures of).
The shields were very straightforward to install. They are high quality, heavy duty shields and I expect them to last the lifetime of the truck (hundreds of thousands of miles).
I am very happy with the fitment (a couple of the pieces took a little finess to get perfectly where they should be, but the tight fit ensures that mud, dirt, snow, slush, and most importantly here in NY state, salt do not get splashed up into the engine bay/on the firewall).
I highly recommend these to anyone with a 4th Generation Toyota Tacoma due to the gaping holes around the shock/spring tower on these models.
4 star review, haven't been put to the test yet but expected they will perform great and will probably justify a 5 star.
Pros: Superior coverage compared to the factory shields, this is the main reason for purchasing these splash shields. Material is way more robust than factory shields. Ordering and shipping were great, along with the installation instructions.
Cons: Installation difficulties due to stiffness/thickness of the shields and slight fastener hole layout/alignment, a few fasteners are under some stress after installation. Does the shield material need to be this stiff/thick, time and service will tell? After installation, the shields are a little too close to the brake lines, whereas the factory shield is formed to provide space between the shield and brake lines.
